District, and took charge of the gambling section which Inspector Hemp (No. 29) had charge of at the time of Sam Yin's arrest, March 1895.

It will be observed that although Sam Yin fixes the date of the commencement of the payment to No. 91 at about two months after the gambling house was opened, yet he says in the same statement as A Fuk told him at No. 91 was in charge of the place above his i.e. the part of the town above Hollywood Road.
This describes sufficiently clearly the gambling section that Acting Inspector Hall was put in charge of in March 1895.
I would further point out that in his original statement made to the Crown Solicitor a copy of which was enclosed in my letter of the 27th of July, Sam Yin stated that "No. 91 formerly was in charge of the section that No. 29 now has" (vide extract attached).
It is evident that Sam Yin (speaking it must be remembered entirely from memory) has made a mistake as to the date of the commencement of the payment, and Acting Inspector Hall is of course entitled to the benefit of that mistake.
Still in view of the fact that in both statements Sam Yin mentions the fact that the Acting Inspector was in charge of a certain gambling section, and taking into consideration
